861 Ref Controller
The 861 Surround Sound Controller makes a perfect front end for the ‘Class A' rated Meridian Digital Theatre, receiving super-high-resolution digital signals from a Meridian optical disc transport such as the companion 800 and driving (for example) a set of Meridian DSP loudspeakers. The 861 accepts multiple input channels of 24-bit, 96kHz sampling PCM, and gives the maximum resolution on these signals. The processor also performs high-resolution up-sampling on signals coming in at lower sampling rates, de-jittering and significantly improving their audio quality. It includes the latest decoding technologies, employing our own custom code, in a software-based system that can be updated with new developments, along with Meridian's acclaimed Room Correction system that smooths out room reverberation, removing muddiness and improving clarity and localisation. The 861 provides extensive output possibilities that go far beyond conventional 5.1: twelve output channels are supported as standard.
