Joy and a small amount of pain cometh..... - 30/09/2009
Hello again to all who may come across this, sorry it's been a while but I'm still getting used to being a blogger! I am hoping you all enjoyed our "barbeque summer" to it's fullest and spent the time inside (as the weather did dictate) listening and enjoying your Hi-Fi's and Home Cinema's with whomever you do so with. I did a bit of upgrading myself over the last month or so and have therefore been suitably amused and playing at being a hermit with only a few tunes and plenty of explosions for company! Happy days....
Anyway, on with the meaning of a slightly cryptic heading to this blog; First to the pain, let's get that out the way first shall we? If you are a viewer of Freeview you will hardly have been able to miss the fact that you're going to need to re-tune your box after lunchtime today, having been to the website suggested www.tvretune.co.uk , it predictably has buckled under the pressure of the worried British public and at the time of writing isn't working! My advice to you all, in the timeless words of Douglas Adams, DON'T PANIC! Re-tuning the majority of boxes is a pretty straight forward affair, and assuming you can find the 'Menu' or 'Setup' button on your remote you should be home and dry. Follow through your menus directions to Channel Setup, Installation, Initial Installation, or similar and initiate a channel search, allow the box to wipe existing channels and replace them and after a few minutes all should be well! I hope this is of a little help, but there are national helplines out there if all goes terribly wrong! Well, enough of pain onto the.....
JOY! We are soon to be the loving recipients of a truly awesome loudspeaker, Meridian's flagship DSP8000! These loudspeakers redefine what pressure levels can be achieved in your own front room and are capable of creating the sensation that your organs are moving around inside you, truly epic. After listening a pair of these monsters at what can only be described as ridiculous levels my entire body felt like it had been in a wind tunnel, the kind of feeling you get when you've been to a gig where the sound tech's have been slightly sadistic in their choice of PA level, the kind of feeling that,as music lovers, we can't get enough of! But, these are not just able to re-arrange you, their ability to keep everything in check whilst doing so is truly admirable, mid-range in open, accurate and clean whilst the higher frequencies are delivered crystal clear, with bags of detail which is never marred by the enormous tight bass being delivered via a total of 12 custom bass drivers utilising 6 150W power amps per pair, staggering. They have to heard to be believed and will be in store very shortly......
Must sign off for now, thanks for reading my ramblings and I hope that you got something out of them for your time!
See you soon,
Sam
